Overview
Certified Eyewear handles personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can access or correct it.
What we collect
- Contact details, such as your name, phone number, email, delivery address and company.
- Order and payment details. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we don't store your full card number.
- Your prescription and measurements. This is health information, which we treat as sensitive and only collect with your consent.
- For workplace programs, your employer, work site and program details.
- Messages you send us through our website forms.
- Technical information, such as your IP address and browser, which our hosting provider records when you visit the site.
We collect most information directly from you. We may also receive it from your optometrist, with your consent, or from your employer if you order through a workplace program.
How we use it
To make and deliver your order, check your prescription, manage workplace programs, respond to your enquiries and meet our legal obligations. With your consent, we may also send you news and offers, which you can opt out of at any time.
Who we share it with
We only share what's needed to supply your eyewear and run our business:
- Optical laboratories and lens suppliers that make your lenses
- Partner optometrists involved in your eye test or fitting
- Delivery providers, who receive your name, address and phone number
- Payment processors
- IT, hosting and email providers that help us run our business
- Your employer, for workplace program orders. We share order and program details, not your prescription, unless you agree.
We don't sell your personal information.
Overseas storage
Some of our service providers, such as website hosting and email providers, may store information on servers outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and this website
Our website stores your cart in your browser so it's still there when you come back. We don't use advertising cookies.
The site uses Google Fonts, and our contact page includes a Google Map. When these load, Google may collect technical information such as your IP address.
Security and retention
We store personal information securely and limit access to the people who need it. We keep prescription records only for as long as we need them to supply and support your eyewear, or as required by law.

You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you through our contact page or by calling 1800 669 764.
Complaints
If you're concerned about how we've handled your information, contact us first and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
